Betty Mae Vielguth, 96

Betty Mae Vielguth, age 96, long time Anoka-area, MN resident, went home to her Savior on October 27, 2022, having lived a full and energized life. Loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Betty was born in Rockford, IL to Jay and Myrtle Spangrud. She grew up a farm girl in Karlstad, MN, and lived much of her life in Minneapolis and its suburbs with her husband of 32 years, Robert Vielguth. She and Bob also resided in Tehran, Iran and New Jersey as part of Bob’s work with ATT. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, infant daughter Rebecca and sister Bonnie Lindland. She is survived by her brother Marlin Spangrud.
Grateful for her vibrant affection, thoughtfulness and faith are Betty’s children Elaine (David) Walburg (Tarpon Springs, FL), Richard (Graciela) Vielguth (Edina, MN) and Craig (Vicki) Vielguth (Charlotte, NC). Delightful memories of Betty will forever be shared by them as well as her 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Betty’s strong faith, firm belief in the loving redemption of Christ and ardent prayer life permeated her life and relationships. Her many involvements included decades of service in her local church and with the Gideons International, and nursing mission trips to Costa Rica and Honduras. She and Bob were long time members of Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church. In addition to her many activities as a registered nurse, Betty was an avid world traveler, proud Norwegian and author, writing about her experiences growing up in Northern Minnesota during the Depression and her time in Iran related to her husband’s career work.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International [gideons.org]. Online condolences may be posted at [insert Washburn-Mcreavy condolence link].
