Joan (Brown) Aagenes, 72

Joan (Brown) Aagenes, age 72, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 5th, at her home with family by her side. A Celebration of Life and open house will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th, at the home of Brett and Jodee Brown, 13843 330th St. SE, Mentor, MN 56736. A prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Jeanne Rains officiating. Joan Lucille Nesteby was born on July 4, 1951, in Greenbush, Minnesota to parents Floyd and Susie (Kulas) Nesteby. She grew up in Greenbush and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1969.

Joan was married to Wayne Dahl of Roseau, Minnesota in 1971 and to this union, two children were born, Terry and Brett. She was married to James Brown of Erskine, Minnesota in 1979 and they had one daughter, Janessa. After divorce to Wayne and James, Joan met Jim Aagenes who would become her loyal and devoted partner for many years. They were married on March 13, 2021.

Joan dedicated her working years to caring for, and helping, people. Her first employment was early in her life as a CNA with the Roseau and Greenbush hospitals and Johnson Rest Home in Fosston. She continued her medical career as an Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic for First Care Medical Services and, later, Essentia Health in Fosston. Most recently, Joan was a Respiratory Therapist for Essentia Health, a position she held until her retirement.

Joan liked to cook, bake, shop (especially for shoes), and enjoyed going out to eat for a nice meal. Most of all though, Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were so dear to her.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Aagenes of Fosston; daughter, Janessa (Kevin) Kiecker of McIntosh, MN; son, Brett (Jodee) Brown of Mentor, MN; grandchildren, Alec (Grace) Kiecker, Livaeh Kiecker, Elsii Kiecker, Crew Kiecker, Koen Kiecker, and Case Kiecker, Samantha (Tim) Nemechek, Nathaniel (Michaela) Brown, Isaac (Madison) Brown, Jordan (Colton) Nyegaard, Lucas Brown, Caleb Brown, Mariah Brown, and Joseph Brown; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Charlotte and Estelle Nemechek, and Harper Jo Brown.

Also surviving are siblings, Janice Darrah, Jeanette Ross, and Allen Nesteby.

She was preceded in death by infant son, Terry; her parents, Floyd and Susie Nesteby; and two brothers, Walter and Teddy Nesteby.
