An early photo of Bethel Lutheran Church in Karlstad. The church was originally called Swedish Lutheran Church
when it began in 1907. According to the Karlstad history book, “Portrait of Progress,” the church shared a pastor with
the Bethesda and Salem Churches in those early days. “The Swedish Lutheran portion of the pastor’s salary came to
$50.00 for the first year. Membership for the joining members that first year was set at $2.00 for men and $1.00 for women.
