NW RIC Board members present included Matt Nordin, Tim Hruby, Holly Burkel, Mindy Dunrud, Tera Nordby, Allison Harder, Cari Dostal and Mark Johnson. Also, present Special Education Director Kim Johnson and Assistant Director Becky Levenhagen.
Chairperson Nordin called the NW RIC Board Meeting to order.
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the agenda as presented. Moved by Burkel, seconded by Johnson. Motion Carried.
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the February 6, 2023 regular business meeting. Moved by Harder, seconded by Hruby. Motion Carried.
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the March board bills in the amount of $29,694.16 and April board bills in the amount of $10,570.05. Moved by Nordin, seconded by Dunrud. Motion Carried.
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the employment of Megan Larson, Early Interventionist effective February 27, 2023. Moved by Burkel, seconded by Johnson. Motion Carried.
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the resignation of Sara Rogalla, Early Interventionist, effective June 2, 2023. Moved by Nordin, seconded by Harder. Motion Carried
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the employment of the following staff for Extended School Year (ESY) services: Megan Larson, Shanda Carlson, Megan Johnson, Deb Davidson, Karen Dvergsten, Erica Kiesow, Emily Webre and Morgan Holmgren. Moved by Johnson, seconded by Harder. Motion Carried.
Special Ed Director reported on ConnectEd, Regional Para Training, MDE indicator Data Review, Policy Review, Cash Flow and Cash Expenditures.
BE IT RESOLVED to adopt MSBA 208: Development, Adoption and Implementation of Policies policy. Moved by Hruby, seconded by Dostal. Motion Carried.
BE IT RESOLVED to adopt MSBA 806: Crisis Management policy. Moved by Nordin, seconded by Nordby. Motion Carried.
BE IT RESOLVED to approve the following policies with non-substantive changes: MSBA 103: Complaints – Students, Employees, Parents, Other Persons; MSBA 401: Equal Employment Opportunity; MSBA 402: Disability Nondiscrimination; MSBA 403: Discipline, Suspension, and Dismissal of School District Employees; MSBA 404: Employment Background Checks; MSBA 419: Tobacco-Free Environment; Possession and Use of Tobacco, Tobacco-related Devices and Electronic Delivery Devices; Vaping Awareness and Prevention Instruction; MSBA 420: Students and Employees with Sexually Transmitted Infections and Diseases and Certain Other Communicable Diseases and Infectious Condition; MSBA 427: Workload Limits; MSBA 703: Annual Audit; MSBA 714: Fund Balance; MSBA 721: Uniform Grant Guidance Policy regarding Federal Revenue Sources. Moved by Nordin, seconded by Harder. Motion Carried.
The following policies were reviewed with changes. These policies will be presented for approval at the June 5, 2023 school board meeting. MSBA 102: Equal Educational Opportunity, MSBA 416: Drug and Alcohol testing, MSBA 417: Chemical Use/Abuse, MSBA 418: Drug Free Workplace/Drug-Free School, MSBA 709: Student Transportation and Safety and MSBA 722: Public Data Requests.
Motion was made by Burkel to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Dunrud. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned.
The next regular NW RIC Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 5, 2023, at 6:00 PM.
