Obituary/Cheryl Lynn Gunnarson, 57

Cheryl Lynn Gunnarson, 57, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Kittson Memorial Nursing Home in Hallock, MN, after a very courageous battle with cancer.  Her mom was by her side.

Cheryl was born on January 4, 1969, in Hallock, MN, to Wallace and Shirley (Hickok) Gunnarson.  Cheryl lived in Lake Bronson with her family for her entire life. 

Cheryl had two older siblings: brother, Terry, and sister, Ann.  She was confirmed at the Lake Bronson Covenant Church, and she graduated from Tri-County (Karlstad) in 1988.  Following graduation, Cheryl became part of the DAC family.  She also cleaned the Lake Bronson Legion and the Lake Bronson Community Center for many years.

Cheryl always had a smile on her face. Friends describe her as cheerful, kind, caring, and a great friend.  She was a faithful fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings.  Cheryl had a love for music; the bands “Fire” and “Highway 59” were two of her favorites as well as any 80s rock bands.  

Cheryl is survived by her mom, Shirley, Lake Bronson, MN, sister, Ann Gunnarson and Harlan Gustafson, Karlstad, MN.  She also leaves behind many relatives and life-long friends who will miss her dearly.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Wallace Gunnarson, brother, Terry Gunnarson, and her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

A funeral service was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Bronson, MN, on Thursday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation was  held at the church for an hour before the service. Interment will be in Lake Bronson Riverside Cemetery with a lunch to follow at the church.  Arrangements by Austin Funeral Home, Hallock, MN.
