Obituary/Kimberly Johnson Erickson, 46

Kimberly Johnson Erickson, 46, of Halma, MN, passed away unexpectedly at Sanford Thief River Falls Medical Center on Sunday, March 22, 2026. 

Kimberly Kristina-Carol Johnson was born to Duane and Elaine (Krebs) Johnson at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis on August 29, 1979. Her family moved to Little Falls, MN, in April 1980, where she grew up and went to school.

Kim held many jobs, including working with her brother, who owned a carnival ride. Later, she bought her own food stand and would travel to different states, making friends. Eventually, she tired of that and sold her stand. She then worked at a nursing home as a cook.  

Her dad, Duane, and brother, Brian, would deer hunt in Halma, MN. This is where Kim got her first buck and then met the love of her life, Deric Erickson. A little while later, she moved to Halma to be with Deric and his daughter, Dannica. Deric and Kimmy were married on January 26, 2025. She worked at DigiKey in Thief River Falls, MN, until her death. 

Kim was preceded in death by her brother, Brian; mother- and father-in-law, Sally and James Erickson; and grandparents, Melvin and Juanita Johnson and Sylvester and Bernadine Kruzel. 

She is survived by her husband, Deric Erickson, Halma, MN; stepdaughter, Dannica Erickson, Halma, MN; parents, Elaine and Duane Johnson, Little Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Jenica (Jon) Swenson, Lake Bronson, MN; and many beloved friends. 

A small graveside service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Eidsvold Cemetery in Halma, MN. Arrangements by Austin Funeral Home, Hallock.
