Obituary/Paula Kay Geroy, 50
October 12, 2025
Paula Kay Geroy, 50, of Roseau, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on September 24, 2025. She was born on November 6, 1974, to Jan and Esther (Otto) Geroy.
Paula grew up in Badger, Minnesota, and graduated from Badger High School in 1993. During her high school years, she loved sports and playing saxophone in the school band, and singing in the choir; she received many awards and scholarships. She attended Moorhead State University during her senior year. She went on to attend Concordia College and the University of Minnesota before earning a degree in Visual Arts from the Brown Institute. She was baptized and confirmed at Badger Creek Free Lutheran Church. Paula also managed the Roseau Business Plaza and worked at the Geroy's Building Center for a period of time.
Throughout her life, Paula endured many struggles, but even through mental, physical, and emotional pain, she found her faith in Jesus Christ. She was never shy to share her testimony of deliverance with friends and family, courageously battling a spiritual world many may never understand. She proclaimed that even though there is evil, “It is no match for God.”
Paula had a compassionate heart, a creative spirit, and a deep love for animals. She found joy in photography and had a natural talent for editing photos of nature and wildlife. She enjoyed art, music, and worship, and was active in online prayer groups and ministries. She went on two mission trips with her father through the Evangelical Covenant Church, where they helped victims of Hurricane Katrina.
She also had a lighter side, enjoying simple comforts like a good cup of coffee—even trying her hand at roasting her own beans. She loved little children dearly, and they loved her in return. She embraced technology with ease, enjoyed essential oils, and appreciated the convenience of Amazon Prime. Trips to the family cabin, walks in nature with her inseparable friend, "Penny." She also loved gardening and cooking, and the evenings stargazing from her deck that brought her peace. She admired her father’s craftsmanship in remodeling her home and him keeping her yardwork under control. She also took pride in her brother Kyle’s business ambition.
Paula will be remembered for her creativity, courage, strong faith, and the love she shared with family, friends, children, and animals.
She is survived by her parents, Jan and Esther Geroy; her brother, Kyle(Melanie) Geroy; nieces Lindsay(Jacob)Crompton and Maya Geroy; nephew Nick Geroy; and great-nieces Evelyn, Eleanor, and Adaline. She is also remembered by many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ray and Muriel Geroy and Herman and Marie Otto; uncles Jeff Geroy, Dale Otto, and Don Brateng; cousins Rozalyn Otto, Mark Otto and Eric Rudnik. And special friends Margaret Foster and Ian Hopfauf.
